Abstract

With rights comes obligation. That is the lesson of a recent ruling from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, A.S. v. I.S., which held that a stepfather who fought for and won shared custody of his former stepchildren must also pay child support. Reaching the right result, this court nonetheless provides a cautionary tale for parents and stepparents about the future consequences of choices about childrearing during marriage.
