Since its founding, the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law & Policy, under the leadership of Prof. Janet L. Dolgin and Melissa Kessler, has a been a leader in shaping the conversation in its field. The Institute has recently presented symposia on topics ranging from the Affordable Care Act, the ethics of health care, medical marijuana, and veterans’ health care concerns. With these symposium, the Institute builds upon Hofstra Law’s rich tradition of outstanding scholarship by leveraging the strength of its faculty, the generosity of its benefactors, and its partnerships with Hofstra’s Public Health program and its School of Medicine to bring together the people and institutions making change happen in real time.

The materials presented here are an example of the types of path breaking work done at Gitenstein. It is our hope that readers will join the conversation as we work together to build a better healthcare future.
