Abstract

The article discusses the criminal sanctions for the infringement of intellectual property while emphasising on the patent infringements. It states that criminal punishments are imposed to the violators of copyright and trademark but not to the violators of patent and also discusses the reason for this disparity. Information on the impact of the international negotiations by the U.S. regarding the intellectual property arena on the criminal sanctions is also presented.
